Black Bob, the Dandy Wonder dog gets resurrected in the next episode of my strip 'Nuke Noodle'. If you don't remember Black Bob, he was a sheepdog in scotland who's owner, Andrew Glenn, used to fall down a well every week. Bob would then contrive to rescue him using his doggie intuition before capturing some poachers. In my strip, that whole dynamic is ripped up and strewn across the glen, then stomped to little bits. People who are nostalgic for the kind of comics they read as a kid (there seem to be a few on the internet lately. Shouldn't they be using the post?) are gonna hate it.

Not trying to rant at you, Alexander, but remember that the people who think that The Dandy's not as good as it used to be are the same people who loved the comic when they were younger, so pay some respect to them. I'm not a troll or a "hater" (how I hate that word), i'm just voicing my opinion. :-)
Oliver, Alexander is not trying to say it like that. He is simply stating that some people don't like the Dandy because it's not the same and thus immediately presume it's awful.
Great strip, Alex. I've just drawn Black Bob myself, oddly enough...
Strikes me he ain't so black. He's pretty much half white. If you ask me he should be called Black'n'White Bob.
Why should I pay respect to them just because they preferred the old Dandy? Doesn't make sense to me. The way I say it, Oliver, is that some of the people who are commenting negatively about the current Dandy as far as I have read, have not analyzed it with any great regard. I read the Dandy when I was a kid in the 80's and I can tell you that in my opinion the current incarnation is far funnier. (I am not talking about my strip here-I am obviously leaving that out). But it's all personal opinion-if you like the more traditional approach, read the Beano, but my opinion is that it's laugh free. The writing of Wilbur Dawbarn, Andy Fanton, Jamie Smart, Nigel Auchterlounie and others is some of the best children's comic writing I have ever read. Only Oink! was comparably funny-and just like the Dandy it was very patchy at times.
I though the same thing about Bob when I was drawing him, Will. Perhaps it's because his soul is as black as pitch.
I agree with Alex. The new, revamped Dandy weekly is far better than any previous incarnation.
I love how different The Dandy is in contrast to The Beano. The Dandy is far funnier whereas The Beano goes down the classic route with the classic art styles.
Overall, I find The Beano incredibly unfunny. I find none of the stories are "laugh-out-loud" funny whereas in The Dandy, I can easily get quite a few laughs out of the 36 pages.
